“Those kids all had pretty solid skates,” said Glengarry coach Trevor Buttenham. “It just sort of gives them a confidence base going into the next one.”

Heading into the next competition, the Okanagan Regionals in Kamloops four weeks from now, it gives them the mindset that as long as they deliver, they can duplicate or top those results.

“I don’t see there being any reason why they wouldn’t be able to,” said Buttenham. “There is no reason, if those kids skate the way they did, why they wouldn’t maintain or even better those performances. They are going to have to deliver the next competition.”

Buttenham said the members skated OK, against strong competition. The club has several kids who have moved up and made their debuts at a higher level, such as Alex Jung, Rachel Jung, Cloe Robert and Isabelle Tuckwood. Buttenham said it is about feeling out where they are and looking at what those scores amount to, but they get a base score at the first competition.

This weekend Jordana McEachern and Samantha Macnally are competing at the sectionals in Parksville which is one of the qualifiers for the B.C. Games.
