High-five record being pursued on Vees home opener

Residents invited to gather at South Okanagan Events Centre for high-five event to help commemorate fifth anniversary of SOEC

In pursuit of Guinness World Records® attempt, Global Spectrum is inviting residents of the South Okanagan to come to the South Okanagan Events Centre to be part of a simultaneous high-five. This will be at 5:55 p.m. before the Penticton Vees have their home opener against the Merritt Centennials. The current record is 4,699, achieved by The Kroger Co. (USA) at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louiseville, Kentucky, USA on April 16, 2013.

As part of the five year anniversary festivities, Global Spectrum Facility Management and the Vees encourage residents to participate in this symbolic celebration to help commemorate the fifth anniversary of the SOEC. The festivities continue inside for the home-opener for the 2013-2014 season. The puck drops at 7 p.m. There will be a ceremonial banner raising and the singing of the national anthem by special guest Mark Donnelly of the Vancouver Canucks. Concession specials will also be offered during the game.
