The Okanagan Hoops had a win slide from within their grasp against the Vikings in Kelowna Minor Basketball Association league play.

The Hoops controlled the play through three quarters and had a 16-point lead only to see it erased after losing focus, especially defensively. The Vikings won 35-31 on Wednesday and Hoops coach Chris Terris said it was uncharacteristic for his group.

"I think we learned an important lesson,” he said.

The Hoops' offensive leader was Olivia Devito, scoring 14 points and collected four rebounds. Kayley Davies added seven points to go with six boards and four steals. Also contributing for the Hoops were Kate Coombes with four points and four rebounds as well as Emma Terris and Liev Elder with three points and six boards.

“Olivia had a really strong game.  She was active and used her speed to generate a number of fast-break layups,” said Terris.

The Hoops are now 5-2 and are playing in the KMBA Monster Jam Tournament this weekend.
