Kamloops players bowl to victory in Bonney Cup

Kamloops team of Rheal Bosse and Pam Jones are Bonney Cup champs.

The visitors from the McArthur Park Lawn Bowling Club in Kamloops won the Penticton Lawn Bowling Club’s mixed tournament held in late September. B flight winners came from the Penticton Lawn Bowling club in Kevin Barry and Patti Carlsen, while second went to Brad Edwards and Pat Howard.

“Our Bonney Cup is the event that all lawn bowlers look forward to playing in,” said tournament organizer Myrna McLaren.

The Bonney Cup featured 40 players from up and down the Okanagan Valley, including eight pairs from the Penticton club. Six clubs participated in the two-day tournament. The Penticton Lawn Bowling Club limited the event to 20 pairs and had a waitlist.

The Penticton Curling Club has been operating for 80 years with some of its original trophies still being played for.

Their next event is this Saturday when they host thier awards night.
