The Okanagan Hockey Academy Female Varsity team is on the hunt for a new head coach.

Okanagan Hockey Group vice-president Dixon Ward announced that Christina Sharun has stepped down to pursue a new job opportunity with the Canadian Coast Guard.

“We want to wish Christina all the best on her new adventure,” said Jim Fetter, manager of Female Operations and head coach of the OHA Female Prep team. “We want to thank her for all her hard work and commitment to OHA. Her guidance and leadership was invaluable in getting our Varsity program off the ground.”

Sharun joined OHA in 2015 and served as an assistant coach for one season before being named the head coach of the OHA Female Varsity team for their inaugural 2016-17 season.

“I want to thank the Okanagan Hockey Academy for the opportunity to work with the Female Program,” said Sharun. “I will take many memories and lessons forward with me in my future endeavors and I wish the program continuing success.”

While at OHA, Sharun also was the head coach of Team B.C. at the 2016 National Women’s Under-18 Championship, where she earned a bronze medal.
