When the Okanagan Granfondo returns to Penticton for its 13th year in 2025, cyclists will have a whole new layout from start to finish.
All four of the distances available to cyclists, from the about 155-kilometre full Granfondo to the smaller 35-kilometre Cortofondo, have been redesigned and reported for 2025.
All four distances will start and finish at Skaha Lake Park, in the first and most obvious difference, but there are more changes in the details.
"These four new routes have been carefully designed to highlight the beauty of the area while providing a safe, fun and unique experience for every cyclist, regardless of which route they choose," said Jodi Cross, executive director of Okanagan Granfondo Penticton. "For those who are familiar with the event, there will be a fresh take on the cycling journey, and for those who are new we are confident they’ll enjoy a great experience riding these roads.”
None of the routes go north along Highway 97 and up Summerland Hill, as the courses in previous years did.
The new courses, along with registration for the July 2025 event, were announced on Nov. 27.
The organizers promise that the same community support, well-stocked rest stops and support from the Okanagan Granfondo Penticton organization will be there with the new courses.
Also returning are the expo weekend and the always popular Piccolo Fondo for youth and kids.
Volunteer sign-up will be available in the spring of 2025.
Details about the new routes, including maps and elevation profiles are available on the event website at www.okanagangranfondo.com.
