Penticton BMX Club’s first double-point Race for Life on their new course saw good turn-out and money raised for B.C. Children’s Hospital.
A total of 32 riders and nine motos joined the club on the course for racing on Friday night, raisinf $1,500 for the Race for Life initiative. In addition to the $20 race fees from each rider, the club hosted a charity barbecue and sold donated bikes and gear as well.
Fundraising for the Race for Life continues until about mid-August, with riders and their families gathering donations until then. Last year, the Penticton club raised over $2,000 for the Race for Life by the end of the season.

Race for Life was founded in 1981 in honour of Todd Kingsbury, a young BMX rider who passed away from leukemia at the age of 12. Together, clubs across Canada have raised over $60,000 for research and treatment for leukemia.
