Penticton High athlete takes first at Campbell Mountain 9K

Fred Albrechtson, Penticton Secondary School student, bested 75 other runners to place first at the Campbell Mountain 9K cross country race on Sept. 23.

Albrechtson finished with a time of 36:00, beating the second place runner by 28 seconds. Kikkan Randall, also out of Penticton, was the top female racer with a time of 41:30, placing her 8th overall. The event also featured a Kid’s Mountain Miler that saw 15 runners.

The race was hosted by the Penticton Pounders Running Club and is the first in the Interior Cross Country Series. The second race in the series, the Summerland Sweets 7.4K/TriPower 3.2K, will take place Sept. 30 at the Summerland Rodeo Grounds.
