Lacrosse registration

Penticton Minor Lacrosse Association’s regular registration deadline is today. The association has registration open for ages five to 16 in its six divisions (mini tyke, tyke, novice, peewee, bantam and midget). Late registration will be accepted after March 16, but rates will increase. For those who have questions, they can contact Shona Becker at 250-488-0495 or email at reg.pmla@gmail.com.

Former Laker honoured

Logan Mend, a former Pen High Laker, was named to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) first all-star team in U Sports for the York University Lions. The Lions website reported that Mend blossomed into one of the best setters in the league in his third season. The Naramata native led the OUA with 10.07 assists per set, the only player with an average in double digits. He was also impressive offensively, putting up 1.2 points per set, and averaged 1.61 digs per set to rank 16th in the OUA.

Co-ed indoor soccer

Greenwood Forest Products lead the Capri Insurance CoEd Indoor Soccer League with six wins in 11 games, good for 20 points. The Cannery also has 20 points, but in one fewer game. In third place with 15 points is the Riverside Liquor Store with five wins and six losses. They are followed by First Choice Windows and Doors with four wins, six losses and a tie, for 13 points. Oliver FC has three wins.

PFC Young Stars top indoor league

The PFC Young Stars have 12 wins for 36 points as of Jan. 31. In second is Oliver Desert Hills Winery with seven wins and 23 points. They are followed by the Damaged Liverpools with three wins and 10 points. KVS Pub is fourth with four wins and 15 points, while the Black Panthers sit in last with two wins and eight points.

Men’s Rec Hockey

Mitch MacMillan scored four goals to lead the EcoDry Ice Dogs to a 12-1 win over the Hitmen. Along with MacMillan, the Ice Dogs had two-goal performances by Dustin Johnson and Chad Kupczyk. Blain Ford scored for the Hitmen.
