A familiar voice is coming back to be the voice of the Penticton Vees.
Fraser Rodgers has been named the team’s play-by-play commentator after last week’s departure of Trevor Miller, the Vees’ former director of broadcasting.
Rodgers spent seven seasons in Penticton last decade, known best for being on the call during the Vees’ 2012, 2015, and 2017 B.C. Hockey League championship runs.
The team’s newly-named broadcaster won’t have any shortage of responsibilities when he arrives in Penticton. Aside from being the voice of the team, Rodgers will be the vice president of business operations, oversee all corporate sales and be the director of broadcasting, communications and public relations.
“Vees Nation is very fortunate to have Fraser Rodgers return to our organization in a much expanded role,” said Fred Harbinson, the team’s head coach, general manager and president. “Fraser was front and centre for many of our great Vees moments in the past and will now be back on the mic for many more.”
After leaving the Vees’ organization in 2017, Rodgers moved on for a five-year stint with the WHL’s Prince George Cougars in a broadcasting role.
“My family and I want to thank Graham and Sue Fraser and Fred Harbinson for this incredible opportunity to rejoin such a prestigious organization,” Rodgers said. “Penticton is a very special place for me and is full of great people who I look forward to reconnecting with. I can’t wait to get started and be part of Vees nation once again.”
Last week, the Vees said goodbye to former team broadcaster Trevor Miller, who stepped away from the organization to pursue new endeavors.
Rodgers, meanwhile, will assume his multiple roles immediately.
“I can’t wait to get back to work with Fraser and build on the momentum of our championship,” Harbinson added.
