The Penticton Vees used a two-goal performance from Ryan Hopkins at the annual BCHL Showcase Wednesday night to keep their winning streak intact.

In front of NHL scouts and NCAA coaches, the Vees shined on the league-wide stage against the Chilliwack Chiefs with a 6-2 victory on Oct. 19 to extend their win streak to nine games at the four-day, regular-season tournament.

The showcase featured a dominant Penticton performance Wednesday, as Brett Moravec and Jackson Nieuwendyk, Aydar Suniev and Frank Djurasevic joined Hopkins as goal scorers and propelled the Vees to their 25th straight win dating back to last year’s playoff run.

Goaltender Hank Levy made 23 saves, securing his third victory of the new campaign.

While Hopkins recorded three points, Suniev scored his eighth marker of the season to move into a three-way tie for most goals in the BCHL.

Hosted by the Chiefs at the Chilliwack Collisium, the BCHL Showcase continues Thursday afternoon, Oct. 20, when the Vees battle the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

The puck drops at 1 p.m. and Penticton can extend its win streak to 10 with another victory.
