The Penticton Vees have traded defenseman Peter Muzyka to the Powell River Kings in exchange for future considerations.

The Vees announced the trade on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Muzyka played the 2018-19 season for the Vees, tallying three assists in his 39 games on the team.

Muzyka had originally left the Vees to go to Cornell University, but returned for the 2020/21 season.

Due to the number of 20-year-olds already on the Vees, Muzyka was traded to a team where would be able to get time on the ice.

“We wanted to give Peter a chance to go somewhere that he could get playing time in a critical season for him,” said Vees head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson in a press release.

Muzyka played two seasons before coming to the Okanagan with the North York Rangers in the OJHL, picking up eight goals and 29 points in 109 games.

The Vees start their Okanagan exhibition tournament on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The Vees will take on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, and the game will be streamed over audio at mixlr.com/pentictonvees and over video at HockeyTV.com.
