Penticton Secondary School junior girls Lakers basketball player Maria Iannone was named the most valuable player at the Okanagan Valley Championship last weekend.
Iannone led the Lakers in their final game to decide the pennant winner with 15 points. That included four from the three-point range. The Lakers have not won the pennant since 2005 and will now head to provincials in Langley, Feb. 28 to March 3.
