The Summerland Steam hosted the Columbia Valley Rockies in Junior B hockey action on Friday evening, playing to a 5-2 loss.

The game, at the Summerland Arena, was the first regular season game for the Steam.

The Steam opened scoring at 13:12 when Linden Gove scored a power play goal, assisted by Dawson Jenner.

The Rockies responded to tie the game at 7:42, with a power play goal by Gavin Fleck, assisted by Dace Prymak.

At 7:00, Cody Swan scored an unassisted goal for the Steam, giving Summerland the lead once again.

In the second period, Jesse Carr scored an unassisted power play goal for the Rockies, tying the game.

In the third period, the Rockies dominated with three unanswered goals.

At 15:35, Chase Hawkins scored, assisted by Jesse Carr and Logan MacDonald.

Zachary Giacobbo added a goal power play goal at 3:11, assisted by Erik Lloyd.

The final goal came at 3:00 when Ryan Skytt scored, assisted by Brandt Black.

The next action for the Steam is on Sept. 8, when they travel to Princeton to face the Posse.

The game, at the Princeton and District Arena, begins at 7 p.m.

Summerland’s next home game is on Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. when the Steam will host the Golden Rockets.
