Summerland Steam play to one win, one loss

Junior B team faces North Okanagan Knights, Princeton Posse in weekend play

The Summerland Steam earned a win and a loss in Junior B hockey action.

On Friday, the Steam travelled to Armstrong to face the North Okanagan Knights, playing to a 5-1 win.

The Steam took the lead early in the first period with a goal by Simon Snyman at 13:16. Blake Holowaty had the assist.

The next Steam goal came at 4:54, by Holowaty, with assists from Brogan Lautard and Riley Smoler.

The Knights’ only goal came at 3:29 on a power play.

In the second period, Lautard scored for the Steam at 13;11, assisted by Ethan Grover and Cody Swan.

Scott Robinson added the Steam’s fourth goal at 1:29, assisted by Swan and Grover.

The final goal came in the third period at 1:53, when Lautard scored, assisted by Cairo Rogers.

Princeton 5

Summerland 3

On Saturday, the Steam traveled to Princeton to face the Posse, playing to a 5-3 loss.

The Posse opened scoring with a power play goal at 11:32.

At 4:38, Morey Babakaiff scored on a power play for the Steam, assisted by Holowaty.

The Steam took the lead at 14:50 in the second period with a goal by Rogers, assisted by Robinson and Swan.

The Posse responded at 5:24 to tie the game.

In the third period, Sam Jones of the Steam scored at 17:43, assisted by Samuel Gabriel.

A Princeton goal at 8:49 tied the game once more.

The Posse added two unanswered power play goals to win the game.

The next action for the Steam is on Friday when they host the Princeton Posse.

The game, at the Summerland Arena, begins at 7:30 p.m.
