The Penticton Vees have taken a 2-0 series lead against the West Kelowna Warriors after a convincing 5-1 victory Saturday at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

After Ryan Gropp got the only goal of the first for the Vees, Louie Nanne potted the winner just 22 seconds into the second period. Penticton made it 4-0 on goals by Jedd Soleway and Brad McClure before Reid Simmonds got the Warriors on the board late in the middle frame.

West Kelowna outshot Penticton 9-3 in the third but James De Haas scored the only goal of the final frame, the third power play goal of the night for the Vees. Soleway had a pair of assists along with his goals and Chad Katunar made 24 saves. Game 3 goes Monday night at 7 p.m. in West Kelowna.

Nic Pierog's goal 1:18 into overtime gave the Surrey Eagles a 3-2 win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and a 2-0 lead in the Coastal Conference finals.

Alberni Valley led 2-1 after 40 minutes as Evan Tironese tallied at even strength and shorthanded in the middle frame. Adam Tambellini scored on the power play for Surrey in between Tironese's goals. In the third, it was Brady Shaw scoring the goal that sent the game to overtime where Pierog made sure the home fans didn't have to wait too long.

Michael Santaguida made 31 saves for the Eagles while Jay Deo stopped 36 shots in the Bulldogs crease.

Game 3 of the series goes Monday in Alberni Valley at 7 p.m.
