Minus Wade Murphy, Michael Rebry, captain Troy Stecher and James de Haas, the Penticton Vees lost to the Chilliwack Chiefs in the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The Chiefs only needed 11 seconds to hit the scoreboard against the Vees when Austin Plevy beat Chad Katunar. That lead lasted just over five minutes when rookie Jordan McCallum jammed home a Travis Blanleil rebound. That was the only offence the Vees managed to muster in a 4-1 defeat. A power play goal by Trevor Hills pulled the Chiefs ahead 2-1 then Jaret Babych increased it to 3-1. Josh Hansen then scored will less than four minutes remaining in the game. The Vees outshot the Chiefs 30-28. The Chiefs scored on their only power play chance, while the Vees went zero-for-six as goalie Mitch Gillam denied them en route to a first star performance.
