In 2014, the B.C. government announced it would raise the speed limit on some Southern Interior highways including the Okanagan Connector.

Then in 2016, variable speed limits were activated with electronic signs. This past winter a number of crashes on the Coquihalla has spurred conversation about the speed limits once again.
