You never know what you’ll find at the Rotary Club of Penticton Sunrise’s annual book sale.

Those were the words shared by club members Colleen Lister and Sue Harvey on Friday, April 26, after they helped sell more than 4,000 used books and puzzles at the Penticton Curling Club.

The sale — which raises funds for close to 20 community groups and events — ends on Saturday at 5 p.m., after running all week long.

“Tuesday was our big day,” said Lister, who serves as the club’s treasurer. “Most of the donations we got came in the month of April, so we’ve been busy sorting and getting ready for it.”

Since the pandemic, Lister and Harvey said, the club has seen a record number of people donating puzzles ahead of the annual sale.

High demand for puzzles has matched that generosity in 2024, with thousands of puzzles flying off the shelves thus far, according to the group.

All books and puzzles are on sale for $2.50 inside the curling club, which is located at 505 Vees Drive.

Proceeds from the event will go toward local Rotary projects and community organizations, including the South Okanagan Women In Need Society, Ignite the Arts Festival and Salvation Army.
