Penticton chamber of commerce returns to familiar offices

Penticton’s Chamber of Commerce returns to old location on Railway Avenue

After a number of months working from a temporary location, the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce is moving its office back into some familiar spaces.

Vacating its temporary offices in downtown Penticton the chamber is now occupying a portion of  its former space in the offices above Penticton’s Wine Information Centre at the corner of Railway and Eckhardt.

The chamber will now be sharing the space with two other Penticton organizations that share the chamber’s focus on promoting the community.

“We are excited to be returning to one of Penticton’s iconic business buildings,” said Campbell Watt, president of the chamber of commerce. “This move not only is financially smart but it gives us the opportunity to share space with our colleagues at Penticton & Wine Country Tourism, as well as the newly formed Challenge Penticton team.

“We are all in the business of building economic success for Penticton, and we look forward to sharing workspace with both.”

The chamber moved out of its temporary location last Friday and reopened their doors at the new-old location earlier this week.

Along with moving back in, the chamber will once again be managing the board room bookings for the building, and encourages community groups to plan early in requesting use of the space.

The chamber has  also made some internal changes, reassigning administrative roles and reduced its staffing levels from three full-time employees to two.

“As a business organization driven by member needs, the chamber must take a leadership role in ensuring we are fiscally sound, and sometimes that requires tough decisions,” said Watt. “This restructuring reduces costs and still allows us to fulfill our responsibilities to members as we move forward with advocacy efforts, and the many services and programs we offer the Penticton business community.”
