This historic photo is of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Penticton circa 1893. The heir to the Austro-Hungarian Throne was on a world tour that landed in Vancouver in September of 1893.
The Archduke arrived in Penticton via a sternwheeler the Aberdeen from the Vernon area of Okanagan Lake. The journey apparently took six hours to get to Penticton.
