What started out as a way of bringing some much needed cheer to Cawston at Christmas time has spread to the season of love — Valentine’s Day.
The Cawston Hall board members got together and lit up the outside of the hall with hearts and strings of red lights to brighten up this Valentine’s Day.
In December, board members decorated the hall and the trees in the park with an array of Christmas lights. The feedback and gratitude from the community was so positive that the board decided to do the same for Valentine’s, said board member Bob McAtamney.
“It’s our way of sharing our hearts with this wonderful community,” he added.
The Cawston Hall Society Board of directors have been faced with the same dilemma as everybody else with the ramifications of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The usual events that are held at the hall, and are an integral part of the social life of the community, have not taken place over the past year.
So the board decided it needed to do something to show they care to the community. That’s when they decided to light up the hall and park for the holidays.
The great response from the community enjoying the lights inspired the board to do the same for Valentine’s Day.
“From the hearts of the board members we reach out to the community to your hearts to come by and enjoy these magical moments.”
Board members Elam Wills, Elaine Stewart, Rob Holland, James Duperron, Sandy Brown and McAtamney took part in hanging the huge hearts outside the the hall.
