Nearly 100 Penticton residents enjoyed a delicious Easter meal thanks to the people at the local Soupateria.
Due to COVID-19, the Soupateria wasn’t able to host an in-person lunch, but the 98 guests could enjoy their Easter Monday meals take-out style.
Local real estate group GilSzabo.com Real Estate helped out with baking pies and Wholesale Club donated the vegetables and potatoes.
Soupateria volunteer Christie Fiebelkorn also said donations from the community the week prior to Easter were up considerably.
“We are so grateful for the support of our community!” wrote the Soupateria on Facebook.
“Thank you, president Rod, staff members Daryle and Lucille, for preparing such an amazing feast of ham, Turkey, potatoes, gravy, peas, carrots, soup, and desserts!”
The Penticton Soupateria provides meals 365 days a year to anyone in need. The Soupateria currently feeds about 70 to 80 people per day, many of whom are seniors.
Donations to the Soupateria can be made online at soupateria.com or in-person at 150 Orchard Avenue.
