Attendees at the 29th annual Festival of Lights in downtown Summerland on Nov. 25 will be treated to an evening of festive fun with a country twist.
Presented by the Summerland Chamber of Commerce, the Festival of Lights is the premier holiday event to kick off Christmas in the South Okanagan and this year will have emerging modern country talent with Main Stage performers ME AND MAE, supported by new talent, Lisa Nicole.
“We are proud to present the best in emerging BC Country music talent on the Light-up Main Stage,” said Christine Petkau, Chamber executive director "and we are excited about all the festival activities at this year’s Festival of Lights.”
BC based headliners ME AND MAE play great, homegrown country music with a rock and roll sensibility. The band was the winner of the BC Country Music Awards — Ray McAuley Horizon Award in 2014 and is nominated this year for Group/Duo of the year at the BC Country Music Association Awards. Nicole is the 2015 winner of the BC Country Music Association/Music BC Artist Development Project, and is poised to become the West Coast darling of the Canadian country music scene with the release of her breakthrough EP, Come Find Me. Her story-driven lyrics are fused with a modern country sound and a carefree stage presence.
The annual light up, which regularly attracts more than 6,000 guests, will be an evening of family entertainment with a visit from Santa, interactive ice sculptures created live, and the popular ‘El Diablo”, the mechanical bull. The evening wouldn’t be complete without the switch-on of the lights, and will end with a bang with the amazing fireworks display.
