A glow of support for more childcare is about to hit the streets.

The family-friendly event starts with three lantern-making workshops led by local artists. Workshops take place Saturdays, Oct. 7, 14 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college cafeteria.

Then, “embrace your masquerade spirit and dress up with family and friends for a matinee showing of the film Trolls at the Vernon Towne Theatre,” said creative team member Shannon Marsh of the Saturday, Oct. 28 film at 3:30 p.m. (doors open at 2:45).

“After the film continue the fun by joining a parade and lantern light up led by a stilt walker through the streets. You can bring your LED light lanterns for this unique experience or make your own lantern at one of three workshops held on Saturdays at Okanagan College.”

The parade will end at the Vernon Museum with free entertainment, refreshments and a prize raffle.

Proceeds from this event will support the Sunflower Childcare Centre.
