The Okanagan Nation Salmon Festival honoured the sacredness of the river.

The area is a culturally significant site for the Syilx people and an important fishing camp, gathering place and trading site. The three days included traditional ceremonies, a canoe paddle, stick game tournament and a salmon feast on the final day.
