A novel by Andre Alexis has been chosen as the book Summerlanders should read in the Summerland Reads debate.
The debate was held on Aug. 25 to mark the beginning of this year’s Ryga Festival. The panel format was based on CBC’s annual Canada Reads program.
The books selected for this year”s program were All Day Breakfast, by Adam Lewis Schroeder; A Bird’s Eye View, by Elinor Florence; The Only Café, by Linden McIntyre; Pastoral, by Andre Alexis; Red Dog Red Dog, by Patrick Lane and Spawning Grounds, by Gail Anderson Dargatz.
Pastoral was defended by Sophia Jackson during the debate.
One of the writers, Adam Lewis Schroeder, author of All Day Breakfast, attended the debate at the library branch and spoke about his book.
