The Penticton Fire Department will continue to provide their services to the Penticton Indian Band with council’s approval.
The contract for services will run from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2025.
Since March 2015, the Penticton Fire Department provided first response and rescue services, as well as personnel and equipment for fighting fires to the PIB.
“In my opinion, it’s been a very successful agreement,” said Penticton Fire Department chief Larry Watkinson to council on Dec. 7. “We’ve worked very well with the Penticton Indian Band.”
Through the agreement, the PIB provides the city with payment for the services the fire department provides.
Penticton’s city council voted unanimously to approve the renewal of the agreement.
