Penticton school joins ‘Love of Reading’ fundraiser

Uplands Elementary has been chosen for the Indigo, Chapters and Coles Adopt A School campaign

A Penticton elementary school has announced its participation in an Adopt a School program for this school year.

Uplands Elementary is taking part in the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation’s Adopt a School program running from Sept. 13 to Oct. 3. The program connects local Indigo, Chapters and Coles stores with the school to provide support for valuable library resources.

Anyone can donate in any of the aforementioned stores or online, with 100 per cent of the funds raised going to the school.

There is a Coles in Cherry Lane shopping centre.

“As these schools and their students continue to navigate through the complexities of education during the pandemic, support is more essential than ever,” Uplands Elementary said in a statement. “The opportunity to enrich the lives of students through their school libraries has never been greater.”

Uplands Elementary is one of the 153 elementary schools across Canada taking part in the program, all identified as “high-needs” schools.

The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation strongly believes that providing access to the right book at the right time can significantly change a child’s life, propelling them toward success in education, and in life.

To donate, visit an Indigo, Chapters or Coles store or online at indigoloveofreadingfoundation.givecloud.co/fundraisers.
