Don’t look now but the holiday season is almost here.

Penticton is expanding its holiday lights display ahead of the most festive time of year, with new decorations set to deck city hall.

The city says 2,600 feet of lightning and new rooftop decorations will be installed at the building on Nov. 9 and 10.

As a result, the sidewalk, parking stalls and main entrance on Main Street directly in front of city hall will be closed on both days.

A temporary entrance will be set up behind the building.

Aside from the city’s plans to expand its lightning display on the city hall, residents can expect to see more holiday-themed decorations along downtown’s most prominent roads.

Trees along Front Street and Marina Way will also be lit up, the city added in a press release.

The news comes one day after the city announced its intention to bring back the Downtown Light Up Festival and Santa Clause Parade, on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3, respectively.

Penticton’s outdoor rink next to the city hall will be lit up during the mid-November festival. The event, organized by the Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Association, runs from 5 to 7 p.m.
