The Penticton Vees forward Cassidy Bowes has decided to grow out his hair and raise money for cancer research.
Bowes, from Grand Prairie, Alta., hasn’t gotten a hair cut in over a year and won’t cut it again until he hits his goal.
Playing off his jersey number (92), the goal for the fundraiser is $9,292 and there is no set date to reach the goal.

“The thought of a young child being confined to a hospital bed when they should be out enjoying their childhood is something that really bothers me,” Bowes said. “I just wanted to do something to show some support to anyone who has been affected by a child with cancer.”
A GoFundMe account has been set up to accept donations and when the goal has been reached, Bowes will cut his hair and donate the money to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. His hair will also be donated to help make wigs for those going through cancer treatment.
