The Knights of Pythias recently made donations to nine local charities.
During a meeting of Penticton Lodge #49, the Knights welcomed Aaron McRann, the executive director of the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen, for the distribution of the cheques.
Each of the nine cheques, for a total of $3,150, will go to a registered charity that works in and around Penticton.
The nine different charities are the BGC Okanagan (formerly the Boys and Girls Club of the Okanagan), the Kidney Foundation for Dialysis, the Alzheimer Association, the Okanagan Similkameen Neurology Society (OSNS), the Dragonfly Pond Society, the South Okanagan Chapter for the Blind, War Amps, Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen.
The funds for the donations come from the interest earned on money raised by the Knights of Pythias and administered by the Community Foundation.
