Over 1,000 people took in the first Penticton Farmers’ Market of the season on Saturday, April 16.
Happy people, dogs and babies enjoyed the sights and sounds of the market which saw over 50 vendors offering everything from canned preserves, jewelry, beeswax art to artisan coffee, baked goods and distilleries.
A Princess Margaret Secondary student Abbi was selling her paintings and art cards while Penticton Farmers’ Market organizer Linda Van Alphen’s husband was selling their farm fresh eggs.
An impressive display of Naramata preserves and marina sauces was also getting a lot of attention for its great display, its cause and local connection.
Every vendor said the same thing, that customers have been kind and eager to buy. It was a good day for vendors and customers. Kids bought the freshly popped kettle corn and adults tried the gin and fruit wines.
The Market goes until Oct. 29, every Saturday from 8:30 to 1 p.m.
“I have to say how proud I am of our vendors,” said Van Alphen before the market opened. “We have been through a very tough two years but they have stuck it out and a big thank you to all our very faithful customers who showed up every Saturday in 2020 and 2021.”
The Community Market’s opening day will be Saturday, May 7 and will go to Sept. 24.
