The Penticton Art Gallery and Cannery Brewing are once again hosting the Square Mini-Mural Live Auction in the brewery’s Ale-Catraz on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.

This year’s auction features 10 paintings created by some of the Okanagan’s most colourful artists: Amy Schroeter, Angela Hansen, Ariane` Kamps, Elizabeth Houghton, Greta Kamp, Jessie Dunlop, Johann Wessels, Kristine Lee, Leta Heiberg, and Moozhan Ahmadzadegan.

Each mural comes on an easel frame, ready to hang. They can be installed either indoors or outside. Each mural has been on display in the Cannery Brewing Taproom and Backyard since the creation of the murals during the Inaugural Ignite the Arts Festival held in March of 2022.

For Cannery Brewing owner Patt Dyck, it is bittersweet to have the painting sold.

“I get so attached to seeing these beautiful paintings in the taproom. It’s hard to see them go,” said Dyck last week.

Like last year, proceeds raised from the auction will be split between the artist and the Penticton Art Gallery, which will go towards next year’s mural project.

Last October, the Cannery held the auction night with all eight pieces selling for just over $20,000.

Tickets for the live event are $25 and include a beverage at Cannery Brewing.

All bids start at $500 and the proceeds will be split between the Artist and the Penticton Art Gallery, which will put the funds towards the next year’s project.
