Santa and Mrs. Claus will definitely be there, and lots of elves too but the city of Penticton is hoping to fill Main Street with as many floats as possible to make the return of the Santa Parade on Dec. 3 the biggest ever.
The city is calling all businesses and organizations to promote their brand at one of the most magical events of the year.
Here is your chance to enter a float or to participate in a creative way in the parade and showcase your organization to hundreds of local residents. The fee to enter is $50 and the deadline for applications is 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25.
The much-loved Santa Parade is making its long awaited return on Saturday, Dec. 3 starting at 4:30 p.m. on Main Street, from White Avenue to Lakeshore Drive.
“After a two-year hiatus, the city of Penticton is pleased to bring back the Santa Claus Parade to town,” says Mayor Julius Bloomfield. “A tradition for more than 20 years, this is a chance for the community to once again come together during the festive season. For some, it will rekindle memories of old, for many others, it will be a chance to create new memories, and for all of us, it’s an opportunity to embrace the spirit of the season.”
The city is also looking for volunteers to assist with the parade. Duties include barricade intersection control, marshalling assistance and parade route support. If interested, please email shawna.guitard@penticton.ca or call 250-609-2445.
