CONCERTS

March 9 — Joe Trio, presented by the South Okanagan Concert Society at the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver. This is not your average piano trio — their repertoire consists of the classics, new works by contemporary composers and their own arrangements of popular, jazz and rock tunes. March 9 — Spanish guitar player William Leggot will be accompanied by a unique Spanish fusion bellydance performance by Get Bent Dancers Wendy Goudie, Celine Blais and Nicole Chickloski at the Nest & Nectar. Show is at 7 p.m. and entry is $10.

March 9 and 10 — Vancouver’s Lion Fox Bear are at the Dream Café for two nights. Premium seats are $35 and the wings are $25.

March 11 — Live music at the Cannery Brewing Co. at 198 Ellis St. from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring Indestructible Johnny.

March 17 — The Good, the Bad and the Blues bring a rich sound of deep-rooted gospel, blues, soul and funk to the Dream Café for St. Patrick’s Day. Tickets are $39 for premium seats and $29 for the wings.

March 17 — St. Patrick’s Day Rockin’ Dance Party at the Orchard House from 8 to 11 p.m. Celebrate with the YardKatz and their friends, the Timbre Wolves. Tickets are available at the Grooveyard and are $20, plus applicable fees.

March 18 — Live music at the Cannery Brewing Co. at 198 Ellis St. from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring Dorian Goodwin.

March 25 — Live music at the Cannery Brewing Co. at 198 Ellis St. from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring Jeremy Head.

March 27 — Blurring the boundaries between blues and jazz, Carlos De Junco and the Blue Mongrels play the Dream Café. Tickets are $30 for premium seats and $20 for wings.

April 1 — Live music at the Cannery Brewing Co. at 198 Ellis St. from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring Darylectones.

April 7 — Hard rock band Wise Youngblood are performing at The Mule on Martin from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

EVENTS

Until March 30 — The Penticton Arts Council host a members art exhibit, A little bit of everything X, at the Leir House.

March 10 to 31 — The Federation of Canadian Artists presents a juried exhibition of art works of Okanagan landscape by active members of the South Okanagan-Similkameen chapter at The Art Gallery in Osoyoos. Opening reception is March 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. Open noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday for the duration of the showing.

March 13 — Anthony Haddad, City of Penticton director of development services, is the guest speaker at the Penticton-Okanagan Rotary Club breakfast meeting. He will outline the focus of the economic development strategy for the city. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting at the Sandman Hotel. Doors open at 6:45 a.m. Meeting is at 7 a.m. Full breakfast is $15, coffee/pastry only is $6.50.

March 15 — The South Okanagan Similkameen Pride Society presents an evening with Ivan Coyote at the Shatford Centre at 6:30 p.m. Coyote is the author of 11 books, creator of four short films and six full-length live shows and three albums that combine storytelling with music. March 17 — Scrabble Tournament at the Salvation Army Church (2469 South Main St.) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is $5 and includes coffee and a muffin. Pre-registration required. Event is a fundraiser for overseas missions and there will also be a silent auction. Contact librenl@hotmail.com or call 250-492-6556.

March 17 and 18 — Wearing the Green spring craft show at the Leir House featuring Penticton Arts Council artisans and crafters. Event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

March 17 — Cupcake tea at the Penticton United Church for St. Patrick’s Day. Event is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and is $5. Everyone is welcome.

March 18 — Army of Sass brings their production of High Heel Revolution to the Barking Parrot Bar at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. High Heel Revolution is the story of one young person’s journey to self-discovery through dance and friendship. Tickets are sold online at www.eventbrite.ca for $20 or $25 at the door. Shows are at 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

April 6 to 8 — The Okanagan Valley Writers’ Festival takes place at the Shatford Centre.
