Country music’s influential and iconic superstar, Kenny Rogers will bring his Through The Years World Tour to the South Okanagan Events Centre on Feb. 27, 2014.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member has enjoyed a 55-year-career as a Grammy Award-winning recording artist, distinctive vocalist, and consummate entertainer. Amazingly, Rogers has charted a record within each of the last seven decades and scored a hit single in the past six. Rogers has had a massive year in 2013, highlighted by his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Oct. 27 and his forthcoming Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award honour at the 47th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville on Nov. 6.
Rogers recently finished recording a new album, You Can't Make Old Friends, which was released by Warner Bros. Records on Oct. 8 to widespread critical acclaim. Called by Rogers “the best and most diverse album I’ve ever recorded,” You Can’t Make Old Friends debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, marking Rogers’ 22nd career Top 10 country album. The bold 11-track recording is highlighted by Rogers’ fresh takes on a diverse array of musical styles, including country, soul, folk, rock and even zydeco, and a new duet (and accompanying video below) on the album’s title track with long-time friend and collaborator, Dolly Parton.
Earlier in 2013, Rogers performed on the main stage at the Glastonbury Festival to a colossal audience on the grounds and around the UK as it was televised on BBC. His 2013 Through The Years World Tour has included stops in Morocco, 
England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada and the U.S. A novel Rogers co-wrote with Mike Blakely, What Are The Chances, was released Sept. 3 and Rogers’ New York Times Best Selling autobiography, Luck Or Something Like It, was released in paperback on Sept. 27. In addition, Kenny Rogers Presents The Toy Shoppe starring Billy Dean — a show co-written by Rogers and Kelly Junkermann and featuring music by Rogers — began a two-month run of performances at the Starlite Theatre in Branson, Missouri on Nov. 1 that will run through the holiday season (Rogers will not appear in the production).
A trailblazing artist, Rogers has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide during his illustrious five-plus decades in show business. He was the first country artist to consistently sell out arenas and quickly became a pop superstar as well — his 28 Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 10's is fourth-best all time among men, trailing only Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Elvis Presley. Rogers has recorded 12 No. 1 albums and 24 No. 1 hits – The Gambler, Lady, Lucille, She Believes In Me, Coward Of The County, Through The Years and Islands in the Stream (with Dolly Parton) among them. His Greatest Hits album has sold over 24 million copies worldwide. He is the RIAA’s 8th best-selling male artist of all time with one Diamond album, 19 Platinum albums and 31 Gold albums. He has received hundreds of awards for his music and charity work, including three Grammys, 11 People's Choice Awards, 18 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music awards and five Country Music Association awards. Remaining a popular entertainer around the world, Rogers was voted the “Favorite Singer of All-Time” in a 1986 joint poll by readers of both USA Today and People. He continues to receive acclaim for his new recordings and live performances.
