VIDEO: Why should summer get all the fun in South Okanagan?

Local videographers set out to spotlight businesses that are open year round, not just summer

The owners of a local video marketing business set out to prove that summer isn’t the only time to enjoy the South Okanagan.

“We noticed a lot of businesses were shutting down in the winter so we decided to support the ones who stay open and encourage people to visit and enjoy the winter,” said Jenna Sipponen of Awesome Business Videos.

It didn’t take long to find many cool businesses, wineries, coffee shops, a butcher and even the Penticton Museum that are open during the shoulder season, said Louis Butterfield, the other half of Awesome Business Videos.

In February, the couple went around and shot video at seven different businesses, interviewing the owners and getting a feel of what each offers.

“The business owners were really receptive to our idea and we all had a lot of fun with it,” said Butterfield.

“Seven places you can go to escape the winter blahs” says Sipponen in the video as she explores the South Okanagan.

They feature Black Sage Butcher in Oliver, Township 7 Winery in Penticton, Gino’s Coffee House (formally JoJo’s) in Osoyoos, Penticton Museum, Conviva Bistro in Osoyoos, Eskala Mountain Sports and Ascend Salon.
