Penticton Beer Runners take trip around local beaches and brews

Over 160 people signed up to come back after the 2020 run was cancelled

If you went to the beach on Saturday in Penticton, you may have seen some of the many colourful participants in the Penticton Beer Run.

Over 160 people who had been registered for the 2020 run, which was cancelled due to COVID-19, signed up for the June 19 return of the annual journey through Penticton’s craft beer world.

The event took plenty of work from organizer Hoodoo Adventures and the eight great breweries, as well as with Interior Health to ensure the event could go forward at all.

With the successful running of the event, the remaining runners from 2020’s over 300 registrants are now set to go on a second date in October.

Registration isn’t opened yet for the October 16 date, but it’s planned to be a full return to the heights of previous years’ beer runs.

Partial proceeds from the Beer Runs are donated annually to the Youth Outdoor Recreation Society (Y.O.R.S), a not-for-profit that supports getting local youth active in the outdoors, promoting healthy lifestyles and mental health through outdoor recreation opportunities.
