Princess Margaret Secondary has the first COVID-19 exposure in SD67 schools since the return from winter break.

Interior Health (IH) said someone in the Maggie school community has tested positive and is now self-isolating. The potential exposures to the virus took place on Jan. 4, 5 and 6.

When a case of COVID-19 is confirmed, IH public health will work quickly to determine close contacts and will contact parents/guardians of students who are considered to be at risk.

Students at Maggie are encouraged to continue to attend school as normal unless they have been contacted by IH.

Several cases of COVID over the course of two weeks at Maggie forced that school to cancel afternoon classes in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus in the school community just before the Christmas break.

Maggie Secondary returned to full school days when they came back from winter break.

No other schools in SD67 have reported any exposures but two Kelowna high schools have this weekend, as have two schools in Vernon.

Pen High and a high school in South Okanagan had COVID exposures just before the winter break.

Penticton Secondary School and Osoyoos Secondary School both had exposures. The exposure at Pen High was Dec. 16, 17 and 18, 2020. IH posted the exposures during the Christmas holidays.
