Oliver crews assisting with fire in downtown Osoyoos

The fire appears to be at the back of the Loco Amigos business

The Oliver Fire Department has sent a crew to assist Osoyoos Fire Rescue with a blaze in downtown Osoyoos.

The fire, according to multiple people in the area, appears to be at the back of the Loco Amigos business on Main Street.

The area around the fire is currently blocked off due to the emergency.

The Oliver Fire Department sent an additional engine and crew of five people to assist with the blaze while warning people to avoid Osoyoos’ downtown core.

The Town of Osoyoos also issued a water quality advisory for residents due to the fire’s impact on the water system.

People with weakened immune systems and wishing additional protection are directed to take precautions when drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth.

Until the town says otherwise, people should boil their water for one minute before using or using alternative sources of water.

This story is still developing, more details to come.
