The South Okanagan Women in Need Society is looking to raise $25,000 in their second annual Have A Heart radiothon fundraiser.

Drive-thru donations began at 7 a.m., in the parking lot outside the Cherry Lane Shopping Centre in Penticton.

The organization that helps women and children across the South Okanagan has a donor who will match the first $2,500 in donations.

“We know the South Okanagan is so generous. The community comes together for things like this and it truly is a community campaign,” said Marni Adams, the fund development advisor for SOWINS. “We are only in our second year [of the fundraiser] and are positive and hopeful we are going to exceed our target.”

The fundraiser will be giving out free coffee from Blenz with donations, along with a cookie from Honey Toast while they have them.

Donations will be collected and some special guests will be stopping by later in the day.

The Penticton Fire Department is scheduled to stop by between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Valley Taekwondo is bringing back their Break-a-thon at 4 p.m., with all pledges supporting SOWINS.

Dexter the support bunny will be there, a big hit at last year’s radiothon, as well as plenty of SOWINS staff to talk about what they do in the community.
