It’s back to business as usual at McLaren Arena tomorrow (Jan. 3), when the city reopens the ice rink.
The arena was closed after a snow plow struck a gas meter on the side of the building on Dec. 26.

Repairs to the meter were completed on Jan. 2, allowing the arena to be opened to the public again and resume the holiday public skating activities.
“There are still a few days left in the holiday schedule to go for a skate or to play some hockey before it’s time for the kids to go back to school,” said Bregje Kozak, recreation and facilities director. “I want to thank Fortis and our city crews for their quick work over the holidays.”
On Thursday, there is a public skate from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Stick ‘N Puck from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The complete Holiday Public Skating Schedule is available online at Penticton.ca.
