Penticton Fire Rescue was called into action around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22 for reported high-rise fire at 160 Lakeshore Dr.

Upon arrival to Lakeshore Tower crews sent up members to the unit and the fire was out once they got there.

“The call came in as a barbecue on a balcony that was on fire. Once we got on scene the tenant or owner had it out,” said Deputy Fire Chief Chris Forster.

Fire crews got fans up and got rid of the smoke from affected unit and floors.

“We always recommend that you should have a fire extinguisher handy to deal with something if it should happen,” said Forster.
