BC Cancer Foundation canvassers will begin going door-to-door in Penticton but organizers advise they will not be asking for cash at the door.
Instead, they will invite residents to take part in their monthly giving program only and won’t accept cash at the door. This comes after Kelowna RCMP warned last week of a fraudulent door-to-door solicitor trying to collect cash donations on behalf of a cancer foundation.
“The suspect was described as being pushy and was only accepting cash donations,” states Cpl. Tammy Lobb, Kelowna RCMP.

For security and safety purposes, all canvassers wear ID badges and teal coloured BC Cancer Foundation vests.
Canvassers will be equipped with masks and will maintain at least six feet of distance when interacting with residents at their door.
Monthly donations support life-saving cancer research and innovations to patient care taking place at BC Cancer, helping to change outcomes for people facing cancer across the province, said the foundation.
