UPDATE: Death of young girl who fell from Burnaby high-rise a ‘tragic accident’

Mounties are continuing to investigate why the child fell

The death of an eight-year-old girl who fell from a Burnaby high-rise on Saturday was a “tragic accident,” according to Burnaby RCMP.

Mounties say that they continuing to investigate how a young child fell to her death from a Burnaby apartment building in the 3700-block of Bartlett Court on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Investigators have now determined that the girl, whose name is not being released, died of injuries resulting from the fall.

Sgt. Dale Carr confirmed that the child was an eight-year-old girl but noted that authorities are still in the early stages of the investigation.

“The investigators are still working through a number of steps and will not be in a position to make a determination for a few days,” Carr said.

“There are a number of people that still need to be spoken with.”
