The City of Penticton is taking steps to address a desire on the part of concert audiences for public transit to events held at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The city and B.C. Transit have partnered to help concert goers make the most of their night out in the city. During special events two free shuttles will circle a downtown route taking passengers to and from the SOEC.

The first event to benefit from the service is the Don Henley concert coming up next Wednesday, July 13. Henley fans are encouraged to park free in the city, enjoy a pre-show dinner and hop on board the free shuttle. The special event shuttles will run continuously downtown with stops at the SS Sicamous, Lakeshore at Power Street and City Hall. Visitors and those planning a night in the city can also enjoy their evening without the worry of driving or arriving early to secure a parking spot.

The free service is part of a larger strategy to assist audiences headed to the SOEC complex. The free event shuttle will run from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Other events this summer, like the Rob Thomas concert on Aug. 31, will have free shuttle service added. For a list of events and more info on the shuttle route, please visit www.penticton.ca/SOEC.

Those not taking advantage of the shuttle are advised to arrive early on site and explore a map of on-street parking also available at the City of Penticton website.
