The City of Penticton has set up a trust fund to help assist the Chretien family who have been in distress since Al and Rita Chretien went missing on a road-trip to Las Vegas in March.
The account has been established under the name Chretien Family Trust.
“We want to help the family any way we can,” said Mayor Dan Ashton. “This family has called Penticton home for many years. They have children and grandchildren; they own a business and are deeply involved in the community.
“We’re a small town that is always concerned about our own.”
City council is urging the community to help the family by donating to the trust fund through the front desk at City Hall or at any B.C. credit union, by referencing account number 753053 and the Valley First Credit Union. Money raised will be used at the discretion of the Chretien family.
At Monday night’s council meeting it was discussed that perhaps money collected could go towards establishing a reward or helping pay for costs incurred by the family as they search for their loved ones.
Last seen on a surveillance video in Oregon state, the Chretiens were travelling in a light brown 2000 Chevy Astro van with B.C. licence plate 212 CAV. The couple’s son Raymond Chretien is now in the U.S. searching for his parents.
