Smoke may be visible in Oliver and the surrounding area.

Burn trials are conducted periodically throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre to assess fuel conditions on the forest floor. The B.C. Wildfire Service said the low-intesity fire will be studied to assess fire behaviour potential related to a specific fuel type. This information helps the B.C. Wildfire Service determine the fire risk in a given area.

B.C. Wildfire Service personnel will be on site at all times to ensure that the fire does not spread beyond its intended size and is fully extinguished by the end of day on June 7. A trial burn of this type generally does not exceed 50 metres by 50 metres.

The air tanker group based in penticton will also be using this burn trial to run some practice exercises of its own, so nearby residents will see air tankers dropping retardant in the area.
