The South Okanagan Trail Alliance, in partnership with the Upper Carmi Neighborhood Association are conducting an illegal trash site cleanup Saturday, July 22.
Volunteers are meeting at the Garnet Fire Interpretive Centre parking lot at 10 am, which is about 10 kilometres up Carmi Road and the public is invited to come along and help in reclaiming and the beautifying forest lands.

“Every single one of the side roads that divert off the main Carmi-Beaver Dell road has garbage, some of it small piles some of it big piles and everything in between,” said Alliance founder Andrew Drouin. “We’re going to do whatever it takes to get the job done. We’re going to hit some of the bigger piles and get them gone.”
He is advising people willing to take part to bring gloves, appropriate footwear, a rake, bug-repellant and water.
